Living a Muslim’s Life

By Guest Author Nourin Nafih

“Don’t judge Islam based on the actions of some Muslims”

If you Google searching  about Islam on the web or images, you will come across this saying. But is it really true?

Well! I feel it’s true to some extent but you can not say that all Muslims are the same.

There are lots of Muslims who are called so just because they are born into Muslim families and they have nice Muslim names too.

But is that what a Muslim really needs?

The basic step is to learn what you Religion is about, whether  you are born into a Muslim family or are a new Muslim.

New Muslims tend to know more than born Muslims because they have reverted to Islam after learning and loving the Religion where as “born” Muslims often take their Religion for granted.

It’s highly surprising  to know that people who lived a life in the most extreme manner, came to Islam changing themselves inside out.

That remind me of the verses

“This is the Guidance of Allah. He gives that guidance to whom He pleases, of His servants”.

 (Quran 6:88)

What is that inviting factor in ISLAM. Why is it the fastest growing religion?

Have we ever thought about it?

Even if we do not know, it is definite that there is “WOW” factor in our Religion.

In order to live a real Muslim’s life it is important for us to go in deep with authentic Islamic teachings.

Once we start the journey we realise that ISLAM is so vast that we can never stop learning about it.

In Arabic, the word “Islam” means submission or surrender – however, it was derived from the root word “salam”. From this root word,  you can also derive the words peace and safety.

ISLAM is not a just a religion its a lifestyle.

In order to be a true Muslim we should live that life at least we should make a move towards it.

Most of the people are betrayed by shaithan telling them its not possible in this era to live a life as a Muslim, since it is very difficult to wear a hijab, to be without watching haram things, hearing false music and stuff.

But it is very easy, once we learn about Islam by default you start loving Allah and that love turns us towards him.We start counting our blessings, looking at people who are less fortunate and realise we are not being thankful enough to Allah (swt).

Allah says “And He gives you all that you ask for. But if you count the favors of Allah, never will you be able to number them. Verily, man is given up to injustice and ingratitude.” [Qur'an 14:34]

How true are the words of Allah..SubahanAllah…

Our mind keeps reminding us when we do something that Allah has forbidden. We tend to find ways to get closer to Allah and realise being obedient to him is the first phase.

Being a Muslim is not only about praying five times a day, reading Quran when you get time and going for jumah on Fridays, criteria which are usually used to judge the religiosity of  a person and qualifying him to be a  ”true” Muslim.

A MUSLIM IS A MUSLIM AT EACH AND EVERY MOMENT IN HIS LIFE

Most of the non Muslims get a wrong impression about the religion due to the action of some “so called”Muslims.

That is when the phrase “Don’t judge Islam By Muslims“ becomes true.

Allah calls us believers in most part of the Quran which emphasises the fact that believing in Allah is the building block of ISLAM.

If we are a true believer we gradually start building on our belief and  practising Islam in the best possible way.

So let us all take a resolution to learn more and more about our lifestyle and start practicing it in all ways possible so as to please our Allah who is waiting for us to turn to him.

Let us stop worrying about what the society will think about us, let us stop thinking about what happened in the past and conclude by realising Allah knows best, let us together reach out to others not only through our words but by our action which works wonders in others thoughts, let us be kind to our parents not only because we love them but because Allah has ordered us to do so, let us spread smiles which is also a sunnah, let us increase salam and pray for a peaceful dunya, and  Insha Allah let us try our level best to save our souls on the Day of Judgement.
